A Lifetime of Trauma and Pain
Aug 5, 2002 - Avi Wolanski, 29, and his wife Avital, 27, of Eli, were murdered when terrorists opened fire on their car as they were traveling on the Ramallah-Shchem road near Eli in Samaria.
Avi and Avital Wolanski had spent the weekend with Avital's parents in Moshav Tekuma and were driving home late Sunday night with their two sons, three-year-old Yigal and eight-month-old Nadav. As they neared their home, a gunman with a Kalashnikov rifle opened fire at the car from the side of the road.
Some 30 bullets hit the vehicle. Avi and Avital, who was 5 months pregnant with their third child, were killed; Yigal was injured. Their car was found riddled with bullet holes.
Avi and Avital were buried alongside each other in Jerusalem.
After the attack Yigal and Nadav were adopted by Avital's parents who live in Moshav Tekuma, near Netivot. Avital's father, Shalom, is a farmer and her mother, Malka, stopped working in order to take care of her grandchildren.
OneFamily has been an integral part of the survival and continuity of this broken family since the tragedy occurred. We have ensured the well being and positive development of the children; providing material assistance, mentoring and the therapeutic experience of OneFamily's Youth Division camps and social programs.
We have also brought their grandparents into the club that no one, in their worst nightmare, wants to join; OneFamily’s parents bereaved by terror.
